Choose a CAN adapter
CANopen and Automotive VAG use CAN adapters. Select a transport for your hardware, install its package, and configure the bitrate to match the bus.
| Transport | Package | Configuration |
|---|---|---|
| CANable | CANable | Port, CAN bitrate, and CAN FD if supported |
| WeAct | WeAct | Port, CAN bitrate, and CAN FD settings |
| J2534 | J2534 and manufacturer driver | Adapter, CAN bitrate; hardware acceleration in VAG |
| Lawicel | FTDI adapters | Adapter and CAN bitrate |
| HEX-USB+CAN | FTDI adapters | Adapter and CAN bitrate; observe capture limits |
| UCCB | UCCB | Adapter and settings supplied by the installed component |
Adapter packages do not require a separate transport entitlement. Module access is checked independently; see license and packages.
CAN FD
Distinguish CAN FD support in the adapter and its firmware, source-frame display in Tracer/Monitor, and application-level decoding. A field in the reference does not guarantee device support for the mode. Displaying a complete frame does not mean that a device description decodes all its bytes.
See the separate CAN FD settings for CANable and WeAct. Nominal and data-phase bitrates are configured independently and must match the line.
